Fiduciary advice, under one roof

Each of the families we serve receives fiduciary investment advice and tax services. These are the core components of the financial plan we're going to build and implement for you.

Before any advice is provided, we spend the time necessary to fully understand what makes your financial situation as unique as your fingerprints.

Core services

Wealth Advisory

We build portfolios the way the evidence says they should be built, not around predictions, hot funds, or market timing. We focus on what we can actually control: asset allocation, fees, and taxes. The result is a disciplined, time-tested investment experience designed to work over the long run.

Investment Management

Our evidence-based approach to building portfolios increases your odds of a long-term successful investment experience. We're tuning out the noise and the emotions, and focusing on what's in our control: proper asset allocation, fees and taxes.

Retirement & Income Planning

The biggest risk you face throughout retirement is outliving your money. We implement sustainable investment income strategies that focus on outpacing inflation, mitigating risks and minimizing taxes, so you can focus on enjoying this phase of your life.

Financial Planning

Every client of MWA receives a comprehensive financial plan. Every recommendation and solution we provide is based on the uniqueness of your plan. As your life evolves, so does your plan.

Estate Planning

An estate plan only works if the documents and the accounts agree. We work alongside your attorney to keep them aligned: how accounts are titled, and where beneficiary designations point, because those pass outside your will. We plan the tax side of the transfer with it.

Tax Services

Taxes are one of the biggest drags on long-term wealth, and one of the most controllable. We don't treat them as an afterthought. We build around them, so more of what you earn stays yours.

Tax Advice & Planning

We provide tax advice to all of our wealth advisory relationships. It's a foundational component in ensuring your investment strategy and overall financial wellbeing is optimized. Our goal is to help you keep more of what you earn.

Tax Preparation & Filing

Every MWA wealth advisory client has access to comprehensive tax preparation and filing, handled by the same team that manages your portfolio, so nothing gets lost between your advisor and your accountant.

Tax Compliance

Compliance work is included alongside planning and preparation, fully integrated with your investment strategy rather than bolted on at year end.

Integrated With Your Portfolio

Because the same team sees both sides, tax considerations inform how the portfolio is built and rebalanced, not just how it's reported in April.

Both services are delivered by the same team. Meet the advisor behind them

3 steps to financial independence

  1. Discovery

Your situation is unique and constantly changing. We want to learn what's important to you: where are you financially today? Where do you want to be 1, 5, 10 years from now? What resources do you have available? We're going to spend a lot of time getting to know you first.

  2. Proposal & Next Steps

We outline specific opportunities and strategies we can begin implementing that will have an immediate impact on your financial trajectory. You'll have a clear sense of exactly how each recommendation can be implemented by our team before we take action, so we're all on the same page ahead of you becoming a client.

  3. Implementation

The moment you officially become a client, we begin putting in motion the action steps outlined in your proposed financial plan. We are now working to enhance your wealth and move you toward gaining the financial independence you deserve.

Fee structure

Transparency is at the heart of what we do. No commissions. No product sales. 100% independent fiduciary advice. Always.

Frequently asked questions

The things people usually want to know before getting in touch. If yours isn't here, ask. A real answer costs you nothing.

What does it mean for me if I'm a wealth advisory client of MWA?

It means someone is finally looking at your entire financial picture, not just your portfolio, not just your tax return, but everything together. As a wealth advisory client, you receive integrated investment management, tax planning, preparation, and compliance, all coordinated under one roof and built around your specific goals. We handle the complexity so you don't have to. You stay informed, in control, and confident that the right moves are being made on your behalf, every year, not just at tax time.

Are my investments protected at MWA?

Yes, and here's why. Your assets are held separately from MWA at Fidelity Investments, Charles Schwab, or Altruist, institutions that collectively safeguard trillions of dollars for millions of investors worldwide. We chose these custodians deliberately: for their security, their competitive cash rates, their lending capabilities, and the access they provide to global capital markets. You get the protection of an institutional giant with the attention of a firm that knows your name. And our fee never changes based on where your accounts are held. Our only job is to serve you.

What does it mean to be considered an "independent" advisor?

Independence means we work for you, and only you. Advisors at large wirehouse firms like Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley, or a bank operate within institutional frameworks that can influence what they recommend and how they're compensated. At MWA, there is no parent company, no proprietary product to sell, and no commission check waiting at the end of a recommendation. We have access to the full landscape of investment options and we choose among them based on one thing: what's best for you. That's what independence means in practice, and combined with our fiduciary obligation, it's one of the most important advantages we offer.

Do I have to live in Maryland to work with MWA?

Not at all. While we're based in Maryland, we serve clients across the United States. Many of our client relationships are conducted virtually, with the same level of personalized attention and responsiveness you'd expect from a local advisor. Geography has never been a barrier to great advice.
