Privacy policy
How Meta Wealth Advisory collects, uses and protects your personal information.
Privacy policy
Thompson Wealth Solutions, LLC, doing business as Meta Wealth Advisory (“we,” “us,” or “the firm”), is an investment adviser registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Protecting the privacy and security of your personal information is fundamental to the relationship we have with you. This notice describes what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the circumstances in which we may share it.
Information we collect
We collect nonpublic personal information about you in the ordinary course of providing advisory, financial planning and tax services. Depending on the services you receive, this may include:
- Information you give us directly — your name, address, telephone number, email address, date of birth, Social Security or taxpayer identification number, employment and income details, dependants, financial goals, and the contents of account applications, questionnaires, tax organisers and other forms.
- Information about your transactions and holdings — account balances, positions, transaction history, and information about your relationships with us and with custodians and other financial institutions.
- Information from third parties — account and holdings data provided by custodians such as Fidelity, Charles Schwab, Altruist and Dimensional Fund Advisors, and information from consumer or other reporting entities where relevant to the services you have engaged us to provide.
- Information collected through this website — if you submit the contact form, the details you choose to enter. Our website may also record standard technical information such as IP address, browser type and pages visited, through the hosting platform and any analytics services in use.
Why we collect it
We collect and use your information to provide the services you have engaged us to perform: to give investment advice suitable to your circumstances, to prepare and file tax returns where that service is part of your engagement, to open and service accounts at custodians, to communicate with you, and to meet our legal, regulatory and recordkeeping obligations as a registered investment adviser.
How we share it
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with nonaffiliated third parties for their own marketing purposes.
We share your information only as necessary to deliver our services or as permitted or required by law, including with:
- Custodians and brokers that hold your accounts, so that your accounts can be opened, maintained and traded.
- Service providers that support our operations — for example portfolio management, financial planning, tax preparation, customer relationship management, document storage and email systems — who are obliged to protect the information and to use it only for the purposes for which it was provided.
- Professionals you ask us to work with, such as your attorney or accountant, at your direction.
- Regulators, auditors and law enforcement, where required by law, subpoena, or in connection with a regulatory examination.
Because we do not share your nonpublic personal information with nonaffiliated third parties other than as described above, you are not required to take any action to limit that sharing.
How we protect it
We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards designed to protect your nonpublic personal information, and we restrict access to those who need it to provide services to you. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so please do not send Social Security numbers, account numbers or other sensitive information to us by unencrypted email or through the website contact form. If you need to send sensitive documents, contact us and we will provide a secure method.
Former clients
If you close your accounts or your relationship with us ends, we will continue to treat your information in accordance with this notice and will retain records for the periods required by applicable law and regulation.
Cookies and website analytics
This website is hosted on a third-party platform which may set cookies necessary for the site to function and may collect aggregated usage statistics. Most browsers allow you to refuse or delete cookies through their settings; doing so may affect how parts of the site behave.
Residents of California and other states
Residents of certain states may have additional rights regarding personal information, including rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of that information. Financial institutions and information subject to the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act are treated differently under some of these laws, and records we are required to retain under securities and tax regulations cannot always be deleted on request. If you would like to make a request, contact us using the details below and we will respond as required by the law that applies to you.
Changes to this notice
We may amend this notice from time to time. The version published on this page is the current one, and the date it was last updated appears at the top. We will provide notice of material changes as required by applicable law.
